Not feeling the New Year New Me??

happy new year

If you’re not feeling the “new year, new me” energy, don't worry, you're not alone!

For a lot of us, January arrives with a weird mix of pressure and exhaustion. The internet screams fresh starts, big goals, shiny planners and a whole new identity… while you’re still trying to find your footing after December.

So let’s say this out loud: January doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to be intentional.

The myth of the January overhaul

Somewhere along the way, we decided the first week of January should come with:

·       A 12-month plan mapped out in detail

·       A brand new identity (as if you can just rebrand your whole life overnight)

·       A colour-coded overhaul of your routines, your business, your body, your mindset… everything

That’s not motivation. That’s pressure!

If you’re feeling a bit “meh”, it's not be because you’re unmotivated. It more likely to be because you’re trying to start the year by sprinting.

What you actually need to start well

Here’s the calmer, more sustainable version of a fresh start...

1) Clarity on what matters

Not what should matter. Not what everyone else is doing. What matters to you.

Ask yourself:

·       What do I want more of this year?

·       What do I want less of?

·       What would make me feel proud by the end of January?

Clarity isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about choosing a direction you can commit to.

2) One or two focused goals

Not a whole “new you” list. Just one or two goals that feel aligned and doable.

The kind of goals that make you think: Yes… that would change things.

If you’re a business owner, that might look like:

·       Getting consistent with visibility (without burning out)

·       Creating one offer you can sell confidently

·       Sorting your schedule so you’re not constantly behind

Small doesn’t mean insignificant. Focus is powerful.

3) Support to stay consistent

This is the bit most people miss. We don’t fail because we’re lazy. We wobble because life happens, confidence dips, and we try to do everything alone.

Support can be:

·       A coach

·       A community

·       Accountability

·       A simple weekly check-in with someone who keeps you honest

Consistency isn’t about willpower. It’s about having a structure that holds you when you’re tired.

Progress doesn’t come from forcing yourself to feel “inspired” on January 1st.

It comes from choosing a direction and taking the next small step. even if you start slowly.

Slow is still forward.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not in the mood for big goals, try this:

1.       Choose one thing that matters most right now.

2.       Pick one small action you can take this week.

3.       Decide when you’ll do it.

That’s it. No pressure. No reinvention. Just intention.

If you want support to get clear, set focused goals, and actually follow through (without the burnout), that’s exactly what I help with.

You don’t need a perfect January. You just need a starting point.
