Once a month I get to spend the whole day with my coach, Vivienne Joy and a group of amazing women. We all do amazing things to support others and as Deep Structure NLP coaches, we know how important it is to surround ourselves with those who can support us – yes, even coaches need a coach!!
This year is about Transformation for me, and I was getting a bit frustrated as the transformation isn’t happening as quickly as I want it too. But as a coach I also know that I’m getting in my own way and slowing that transformation down - and on Friday, with the help of Viv and my fellow coaches I discovered why…
FEAR!

Not fear of success or of failure, but fear of being ill again and not being able to do the things I need to do.
Pre pandemic I was really busy and close to burnout, the pandemic gave me time to focus on things I loved and reevaluate what I wanted from life. But as life got back to normal and the people pleaser in me got busier, I became ill!
That saying that if you don’t make time for your wellness, you will have to make time for your illness is so true. It’s taken me a long time to get back to normal and recognise the signs my body is giving me.
I know how to cope with my illness, but my subconscious brain just remembers how ill I was and it’s its job to keep me safe.
And that was my blockage. Busy = illness
The long drive home gave me plenty of time to process this, and having sat with it this weekend now I know I can move forward — gently, intentionally, and in a way that honours both my goals and my wellbeing.
I get to rewrite what 'busy' looks like, and this time, it’s going to be on my terms — sustainable, soul-led, and unapologetically me.
