When You Finally Uncover Why You Do Things…

Updated: Jul 31

Ever find yourself thinking “Why do I keep doing this?!”

ree

Whether it's procrastinating (again), people-pleasing, self-sabotaging when things are going well or talking yourself out of brilliant ideas before they even get off the ground -it’s frustrating, isn’t it?

You know you’re capable. You know you’re meant for more. But for some reason, you're stuck in the same old patterns, wondering if you're just wired wrong.

Well, you're not.

It’s not about discipline and time management, it’s about understanding.

Every habit, behaviour or thought pattern you have shapes the way you think and the way you behave.

Overthinking is your brains way of trying to keep you safe from making the wrong decision. And if you’re always putting-things-off-till-the-last-minute – well what if that’s your subconscious avoiding the fear of failure?

The endless list-making, planning, perfecting; that’s avoidance tactics - a way of delaying the discomfort of just doing the damn thing.

When you finally uncover why you do things, you become curious instead of critical. You stop asking “What’s wrong with me?” and start asking:

👉 What is this behaviour trying to protect me from?

👉 Where did I learn this?

👉How do I break this habit?

👉 And what do I want instead?

Coaching isn’t about fixing you. You are not broken. It’s about helping you step away from the chaos of the day-to-day and identify the patterns and behaviours you've been living by without even realising it.

It’s about giving you the space to discover why you repeatedly do the things you do, because once you know why and you recognise these behaviours,

✅ You can challenge the belief behind it.

✅ You can update the story you've been telling yourself.

✅ You can choose a different response.

Because it’s hard to make those big, bold changes you need to make when you're stuck in this loop.

It's not always comfortable. But it is worth it. Uncovering the why behind our behaviour can feel a bit icky!

It brings up old fears. Unhelpful habits. It shines a light on parts of ourselves we’ve tried to keep tucked away for years.

But it’s also where the growth begins.Where the self-trust starts to build.Where you finally stop feeling like you're swimming upstream with your wellies on.

When you finally uncover why you do things

💥 You get your power back.

💥 You stop fighting yourself and start supporting yourself.

💥 You move forward with clarity, not chaos.

So, what now?

If you’re ready to stop feeling stuck, start understanding what’s really going on under the surface, and rewrite the stories you tell yourself that are holding you back, then this is the work I do with my coaching clients.

Together, we make space for you to breathe, to get clear on what you really want from your life and start making things happen in a way that feels aligned, not overwhelming.

Loved your insights on uncovering why we do things! It reminds me of the M1941 Jacket—classic, rugged, and built with purpose. Just like understanding ourselves, the right foundation makes all the difference.
